1970 Seiko 6105-8110 Cpt. Willard Proof/Proof - Serviced
Description
The 6105-8110 "was featured prominently on the wrist of Martin Sheen's character, Captain Willard, in the seminal 1979 Francis Ford Coppola film, Apocalypse Now. The inclusion of the watch was no mistake – the Seiko 6105 dive watch was popular among U.S. servicemen during the Vietnam War in the early 1970s. It was favored for its rugged nature and resistance to the harsh jungle environment. " (c) Hodinkee
It's also well known for having been the watch of choice of the Japanese adventurer Naomi Uemura on his one-man expedition to the north pole in 1978.
Only in the first months of production these watches were marked as "Water 150m Proof" on the dial and "Waterproof" on the caseback. From then on, they were marked "Water 150m Resist" and "Water Resistant". Thus collectors call this rare birds "Proof/Proof"- models.

- Winding / Aufzug / Remontage:
- Magic Lever winding system uses pawls ather than direct gearing between the rotor and barrel. This helps isolate the gear train from shocks. Magic Lever has one pawl to "pull" and another to "push" the transmission wheel
- Dial / Zifferblatt / Cadran:
- nice original black diver dial with applied markers and logo, 6105-typical signs of moisture on the promethium lume, with perfectly matching hand set
- Bezel / Lünette / Lunette:
- original bi-drectional rotating no-click bezel with some signs of wear all around

- very good original mineral crystal with hardly any signs of wear
